Dear Canada,

We all miss you. The rocky, pine-covered shores of Red Lake, they call to us every year. The bear, the moose, the loon, the eagle, the pike, the walleye, the lake trout and even the ling have virtually become like family to us each year as we make the trek north to our once-a-year “home”. While we don’t wish illness on anyone in your country, we yearn to visit you this year. Today, the trumpet that annually solos “O Canada” is silent on the west end of Red Lake. It can’t make it past the border. Perhaps it will play your national anthem back in Iowa instead.

We will all look forward to next year when we can celebrate Canada Day with you once again. Happy Canada Day, old friend!

Fondly,
The Bow Narrows Family
