It has been exceptionally dry and extremely windy here at camp for the last several weeks. This has led to an outbreak of forest fires. On Saturday, a small fire started in Middle Bay about 2 miles from camp. At that time, they were able to quickly put the fire out.
Most notable is a major forest fire that started a few days ago near Madsen, a few miles from Red Lake. This fire resulted in the evacuation of town of Red Lake. Here at camp, things are still quiet, and we are not threatened currently by any fires. We all need to send some prayers out to the dedicated Ontario forest firefighters and all who support them to successfully and safely get the fires of Ontario extinguished. Rain would also be a welcome sight right now!
