Compliments of Mike Rerucha and friends

It’ll be 70°F and sunny in Red Lake today on this last day of September. Hard to believe the 2023 season has come and gone already, but it was a good one! Lots of great catches and good times with friends and family.

Even though the season has ended, work is still being done on camp. It’s catch-up time. Several cabin bathrooms are getting something of a remodel. More is getting completed on our newest cabin 8½. The lodge dining room expansion is getting some finishing touches. Systems are gradually being shut down. And several rotting trees are being laid to rest. Then a little bit of fishing therapy is thrown in for good measure, of course!

The end of the season and the approach of winter at Bow Narrows is always a mix of feelings of melancholy yet also the satisfaction of having welcomed regular guests back to camp along with some new faces who have now experienced the wonders of Bow Narrows and Red Lake. Family bonds were strengthened, friendships were built… A time of escaping from it all and unwinding in the Canadian wilderness.

The quiet of the empty camp this time of year is humbling. When Bow Narrows is filled with happy anglers, there is a life and energy that comes into the place. When all is quiet this time of year, nature and wilderness become the front runners again. Each help you appreciate the other. This really is God’s country, and it’s never more obvious than at the end of the season.

So as September ends, and in a few weeks Brian makes the trek back to Kansas, we want you to know how much we appreciate you all. If you made it to camp this year, we are so glad to have had you there. If not, there’s always next year. (Check out the 2024 availability www.bownarrows.com) Have a great fall and winter! And don’t hesitate to contact us if you need anything. — Brian and Joanne
