Happy Canada Day, everyone! It looks like great BBQ/grilling weather in Red Lake today with a cool-but-sunny 17°C/63°F. And time to also celebrate that the flooding has abated significantly! We have seen the lake drop almost 2 feet since we arrived in May. Yet, the lake water-level remains around 12 inches over what is considered high water. Thankfully, we are finally able to use our covered dock and boathouse again! Leave it to a flood to make you realize where the hub of many camp operations is.

Heading out to camp on Saturday, May 21, Brian was greeted with this flooded boathouse and dock.

The covered dock has resurfaced! Glad to be able to use the gas dock and boat house again.

While the fishing is especially good this year, the seasonal fishing patterns remain about two weeks behind. We are receiving quite a few reports from our guests about breaking their own personal records for largest fish ever caught. All the better for a year of “grand re-opening”!

As for the road conditions to Red Lake, Highway 105 has been repaired and is now open for travel. So your regular route will be drivable again. We continue to pick-up guests at St. Paul Bay Landing and will keep sending a weekly Wednesday update email with important information for our arriving guests.

Have a great holiday, Canada!
