A work break at camp

Fall is a transition. Moving from summer toward winter the changes take place in living color. At Bow Narrows, the transition is even more dramatic. We don’t have the colors of the maples as other parts of Ontario do, but our fall is breathtaking when the sunset shines on the “mountain” across from camp at just the right angle. Trees line it in stair steps, shouting out thick yellows, oranges and greens. Then the darkening of the lake with the chill in the air adds the dramatic contrast to the changing leaves.

The Bow Narrows weather too has been beautiful this past week. Brian has been working diligently finishing up new cabin 8.5, alternating that with maintaining or repairing various areas of the camp. Cabins are gradually getting their new coat of paint; decks are re-stained as well. High winds last fall took down quite a few trees and those are being sectioned off for 2021 firewood. Other than the sounds of the bush or an occasional chainsaw, it has been quiet at the west end of the lake, having stretches of three days with no boat traffic.

Which way is up?

As Brian’s job list slowly gets knocked down, he also has taken some time to enjoy the fall colors and do a bit of fishing. Wanting to share the view, he captured some of it on camera recently. Sights such as this are reminders of how some things really don’t change. They are still brilliant and beautiful, and we can’t wait to share them with you again in 2021.
