I’m sure many of you have heard the Canadian border will be opening August 9 to American travelers. As is our policy we have waited up to this point to post so that we have as much up to date as possible.

There are requirements for crossing starting with the fact that travelers must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. The following is a communication from our tourist camp owner organization:

“NOTO is very pleased to share that earlier today, the Federal Government officially announced that the Canada border with the US will be open for fully vaccinated American travellers on August 9th, 2021. See Press Release and supporting documentation at the links below.

Of course this comes with a list of COVID safety measures that guests will need to adhere to. Fully vaccinated travellers must meet the following requirements:

  • be fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD, and/or Johnson & Johnson (one-dose));
  • provide COVID-19- related information electronically through ArriveCan (App or web portal) including proof of vaccination prior to departing for Canada;
  • meet the pre-entry testing requirements;
  • be asymptomatic upon arrival; and
  • have a paper or digital copy of their vaccination documentation in English or French (or certified translation, along with the original) ready to show a government official on request; and
  • participate in random self-testing”

CLARIFICATION!

Many of you have asked if I come to Canada will I be able to get back into the US? While it is confusing as to why the US is waiting until August 21 to open the border to Canadians, there is no need to worry about returning back home to the US.

The difference in border open dates HAS NO IMPACT on your ability to return!

Also recognize that we have an approved COVID-19 plan in place at camp.
