On the Road Again
Off we go, back to stateside! We will be on the road for the next few days and probably won't be able to respond to our emails and phone calls. We will let you know when we are back in action though. Remember that through May, you will need to reach us at...
Closing Up Camp
If a tree falls in camp when no one is here, does it still make a sound? Will the wild animals visit while we are gone and reclaim what is theirs for a few months until we return? And what will the squirrel think when Niko doesn’t answer his call until it scampers...
Stand Off! Smack Down?
All summer long...chatter chatter screech! As if to exclaim, "Niko! Come on! Come on! Catch me if you can!" Niko, our beloved camp dog, watches and waits...and then tries to jump up the tree trunk. Over and over, we have seen this dance. We just aren't sure if Niko...
Eagles…Nature at its Best
Fishing on Red Lake is so multi-faceted. Relaxing in the boat with friends and family. Nature's wonders all around you. Incredible fish below, big bears and moose on land, and the magnificent eagles overhead. Long-time guest Lonnie Boyer shared some amazing photos...
Ahhh-tumn at Bow Narrows

Peaceful Portage

“Looming Low and Ominus…”
On an early-morning departure with guests heading for our dock in Red Lake a few weeks ago, we encountered several banks of fog as they rolled across the lake. I managed to drive around two of them only to be engulfed by a third at the narrowest of narrows at the...
Hmmmm…muskie?
Mike Boyer with what may be a muskie caught a few weeks ago. The only unequivocal way to tell if it is a Northern Pike or a Muskie is by counting the pores on the underside of the lower jaw since both pike and muskie are known to present clear and spotted patterns....
Hope Swims Eternal
Jerime Williams caught this young lake trout which had no clipped fins indicating that it is of natural reproduction. Reports from town indicated that others have been catching small lakers as well, all without clipped fins. Young fish are an encouraging sign indeed.
