Happy New Year! Realizing there has been a large gap here on the camp blog, let’s start by saying we sincerely hope you all had a great holiday season with your loved ones! It was a quiet, uneventful holiday for us, and we are happy with that after a summer of too much…smoke and fires that were way too close to camp, border closure (but the long-awaited border opening was more than welcome!), a way-too-complicated house sale/purchase, moving, and all that went with it. Quiet seems great!

2021

The very best part of Bow Narrows 2021 was the welcoming back of our diehard American guests, and the addition of a new group of Canadian guests. We are thankful! Between the two groups, the camp is keeping its head above water. That was definitely a blessing for us all.

Checks and Cash Only

As we move into a new year, we search for more ways to keep camp alive and kicking. As you all know in these challenging times, all costs have risen significantly. But we are determined to try to hold our old rates one more year. In an effort to postpone a rate increase, we have decided to eliminate credit/debit card payments. While it has been a great convenience for everyone, eliminating card processing will help keep the cost of your trip to camp the same in 2022. So starting immediately, we will be accepting only personal checks (for returning guests), travelers checks, money orders and cash.

As you may have read on last year’s blog post, we have been able to roll deposits over only one time. If you left a deposit for the 2020 season, that rollover happened to the 2021 season. Unfortunately, any unused deposits (that had been rolled over a year) are lost. This was a very difficult decision for us to make, but it will help keep the camp open and will support our efforts to keep the rates steady for another year. Be assured that we are regularly evaluating the camp’s policies in response to the Canadian government’s consideration of the tourism industry’s financial hardships.

So what else is new at Bow Narrows?

Those who visited camp in 2021 saw changes to the lodge’s dining room. Due to strict COVID laws, and with the assistance of a government program, the dining room was expanded to meet the government requirements. More elbow-room for our American Plan guests will be a nice benefit.

Availability Page on our Website

We are updating our cabin availability page this week. As you can imagine with so many reservations being transferred to another year, the reservation book has been a bit more complicated than in the past. But we are getting it updated and will be posting that soon. We appreciate and share the excitement of our guests in returning to Bow Narrows for their Canadian fishing trips! And that excitement is contagious! Many are bringing new anglers to Bow Narrows in 2022.

Deposits for 2022

If you haven’t sent in your deposit of $200 USD/person to hold your 2022 reservations, please do so soon. You can mail a check or money order to Bow Narrows Camp, PO Box 95, Benton, KS 67017.

May you all be blessed with a happy and prosperous new year. We look forward to seeing you all at camp soon!
