Dinner anyone?
The new dining room floor is done! The flooring was ripped, stained, installed, and finished! We are very happy with the end result and are getting many compliments about it.
What’s at stake?
We are always looking to the future, and last week, we planted 45 Jack Pines around camp. Most were marked with a stake around the shoreline perimeter of camp. These pine trees have an excellent root system to help control erosion.
Are the fires near camp?
There have been several fires in the area, none of which are a direct threat to camp. The smoke was quite heavy a week ago, and when combined with morning fog, severely reduced visibility. But the current wind direction and several multiple-inch rainfalls have made a significant difference in both air quality and visibility, not to mention settling the dust around camp.
Sittin’ on the dock of the channel
Fishing from the docks has been a common sight the past couple of weeks. It’s fun to see our anglers trying out this lakeside fishing option, especially the young angler who caught one last walleye the night before leaving. I can still see him running to the fish house with it!
Overall, the fish have been a bit elusive this season, but recently there have been more times when our guests have hit a “honey hole” and have caught their limits. As always, the fish-eatin’ is good.
