Welcome to the first blog entry from the Spillar family at Bow Narrows Camp! We are so excited to be here at camp, learning everything we can from Dan and Brenda. 50-plus years is a lot of great experience for us to draw from, and we are so thankful to have their knowledge and friendship to get the camp started up. Their son Matt joined us as well to lend his professional woodcutting skills to our firewood supply which will keep us all warm on those cool northwestern Ontario nights. A few evenings, Matt on the guitar and Dan on the banjo have provided us with some jam sessions and sing-a-longs as well!
Through rain, sleet and snow, we made the first trek from Wichita, Kansas to Red Lake seeing two moose and a bear on the roadside, welcoming us on our way north. The trip as owners instead of guests in the Lickety Split was a very special moment for us. With the weather taking a turn for the better just before we entered Canada, it has provided us with near-perfect conditions to start up the camp. We are settling right in with Dan, Brenda and Matt’s help and are so looking forward to meeting those of you we haven’t met yet, as well as seeing again the old friends that Brian has vacationed with for years on Red Lake. Here’s to a terrific first season at Bow Narrows Camp! If you have any questions or just want to introduce yourselves, we would love to hear from you at 807-727-0439 or at fish@bownarrows.com. Keep calm and head north!
