Evidenced by snowfall and dropping temps, winter is heading toward Red Lake. Evening temperatures in the teens (°F) have the ground frozen, so navigating through mud while closing camp is not an issue this year for Brian. He continues to work on the new cabin 8.5 and get everything shut down for the winter. His ETA on departing camp is today or tomorrow morning.

“I just need to find another snack before that long nap.”

As Brian was heading to town in the Lickety Split one morning last week, he looked over at cabin 10 to find a bear hanging around in front of it. This is actually the first bear we have seen in camp since our ownership began in 2017. Even though no bear has been spotted for a few days, Brian is sure to have protection with him at all times. Hibernation must be close for this furry friend, and maybe there was one final snack at Bow Narrows.

An October sunset is a sight for sore eyes. How about this one!

Who needs Photoshop when sunsets look like this?

And Brian woke up to snow this morning.

Time to head home.

We are looking forward to his return home to Wichita. While it has been a season of disappointments for all, productive things have been accomplished at camp, and we are thankful for that. As a friend always said, this too shall pass. We are so looking forward to a fresh re-start in 2021!
