A few of our guests enjoy strapping one of our canoes onto the camp Lund and heading on over to Bridget Lake for a portage. Carrying the canoe about a quarter-mile from Archer Bay, they hike into the small lake that has areas 100 feet deep.
Bryant Friebus and his dad Dean, regulars here at Bow Narrows, really enjoy the adventure and peace of this portage. And in 2016, Dean hooked into a big 40-incher from the canoe.
When asked what appeals to them about the portages, Bryant said, “I like the whole experience and being the only one on a lake that gets no pressure from motorized boats. Reminds me of how it would have been back before motors were used on boats. Fishing from a canoe is a whole different experience that is full of serenity. Hooking into a good size fish in a little canoe really makes fighting that fish more exciting.”
Sounds great! Going to have to try that next year.
