We so appreciate everyone keeping in touch with us through emails and phone calls. Yes, we are doing well, still alive and kicking! And the camp is “weathering the storm” as well.
Speaking of storms, it has been unusually cold and snowy here in Wichita. Our low windchill of -27°F was pretty cold for here, although we know it has gotten down even colder in many places where our guests live. It still is a crazy time full of all kinds of unexpected things (like over two dozen earthquakes in our area since Thanksgiving!)
Brian has been honing his “Mr-Fix-It” skills so they are camp-ready with a handyman business that has been quite a blessing. He has met some great people through it and who knows? Maybe some of them will join us all at camp someday. Joanne continues to keep things humming along with the home, bookkeeping and camp reservations, always making time for some sourdough therapy. She’s not the first one to feel like sourdough baking can get you through the rough times!
While we wish the times were different right now, and we are utterly saddened by the loss of some of our beloved guests, we are still thankful for what we have. New connections have been made, and good things have come about that may never have happened if it hadn’t been for this upside-down life right now. We hope for you too that all of this has drawn you closer to your faith and the people/things in life that matter most.
So keep connecting with us anytime! We love to hear from you and dream of seeing us all back in the Narrows soon!
I remember my folks saying in the spring of 1948 [we lived in Wichita] that it had cost $8 to heat the house during the past winter.
Been cold in Iowa also this winter – but global warming has brought 40F temps the last couple of days.
