Fall is in full swing! We even had a dusting of snow the other day. Our guests have been faced with cold and rainy weather for the last two weeks. Yet still, they are catching fish even though the fish tend to be inactive for longer periods right now. But when they do get active, pike and walleye have been very eager. It seems the fish can be almost anywhere right now depth-wise, although they are definitely hanging out near deep water more and more. It always amazes me how fisherman will bundle up and go out in even some of the more adverse conditions. Dedicated and hearty! Then as it many times happens after bouts of cold, the beauty of fall shows itself once again with sunshine and warmer temperatures.
The fall work schedule is a busy one here, alternating between painting when the weather allows it and lifting/leveling the lodge. We even pulled out cabin 5’s new roll-in dock which has served our guests well on its first season. Looking forward to a few last guests and the Trout Project group soon.
