When you come to camp, you get away from it all. You take the 40-minute boat ride on the Lickety Split and head out to the wilderness, away from town, from the hustle and bustle of the world. And you DISCONNECT from your work, the internet, maybe an overwhelming number of emails, the craziness of life. Since there is limited cell service, no guest Wi-Fi at camp, you won’t get the news, and you probably won’t miss it. You may even dread going back to it after a week in the wilderness. We have a lot of creature comforts here at camp…clean and comfortable cabins, 24/7 electricity, drinking water that may be better than what you have at home, delicious food, a camp phone if you need it, and the list goes on. It’s pretty amazing to have all of this out in the bush.
So you disconnect and then…you CONNECT. It’s families and friends coming together for a week of fishing…whole families, fathers/mothers and sons/daughters, husbands and wives, friends who have known each other for decades. Precious time is spent connecting when the distractions of the world are gone. Conversations and laughter are the things we love to hear most at Bow Narrows.
If you are joining us in the dining room on the American Plan, you have hooked a tremendous way to connect with other people that love fishing and nature just like you. Friends are made here at camp. One angler might tell how this pike came up and grabbed his hooked walleye as he was reeling in. And amazingly, it never let go, so he got two fish at once! And then the guy next to him tells how that happened to him once…of course, his pike was bigger! 🙂 And yet another guest talks about the moose they saw swimming across the lake, or the eagles that soared high above them.
As owners of a camp, disconnecting and connecting are a rewarding process to watch. Both are something of an art form if you think about it, and really, you need both to do it well. Whether you are a “seasoned” guest or if it is your first time at camp with us, we look forward to helping you disconnect and then connect with family and friends at Bow Narrows Camp.
“Girls just wanna have fun” and we REALLY do at Bow Narrows. Can’t wait until August!!!!
For the Thorne Family it is an annual connecting together of all. From grandpa at 72 to the youngest Knight at age 4. New memories are made each year that add a special bonding with all our family while enjoying a landscape that has to be first hand experienced to truly understand all the beauty nature has to offer and connect to. Our smiles say it all!
