Bow Narrows Camp Lodge

Planning a trip is easy when everything is provided

It’s pretty simple what to bring when you come to Bow Narrows Camp on the American Plan; you only need your fishing equipment, bait and clothes.

When you come Housekeeping, you need your fishing equipment, bait, clothes and food. Our package plans provide everything else.

The cabins are supplied with all towels, linens and blankets, dishes and pans.

Our boats are outfitted with all equipment, including life jackets, bucket seats, anchors and landing nets.

Our 16-foor Boats with 20 hp four stroke motors have swivel, padded bucket seats.  They are very quiet and troll like a dream!

Our anglers mostly use nightcrawlers and leeches for walleye bait. Both can be picked up before coming to camp from bait dealers in Red Lake. If you need more bait, Dan will get it for you and any other items you need during the mid-week supply trip.

We don’t place a weight limit on you like the fly-in fishing camps do, but weight is definitely a consideration since we must carry 9 passengers and their luggage in the camp boat at one time. Just use your head and don’t bring heavy or unnecessary items.

In particular, whenever possible bring beverages in cans rather than bottles which are much heavier.

We don't place a weight limit on your baggage but please bring as little as possible.

T-shirts with jeans or shorts and lightweight boots or sneakers are comfortable almost all summer. You’ll want a warm jacket for morning and evenings and a heavy sweatshirt or sweater if the weather turns cool.

Two lightweight items that will ensure you will be comfortable in any weather extreme: a swimsuit and long underwear!

The most important thing to bring, more important even than your fishing equipment, is excellent quality rainwear (including pants) and waterproof boots. If you can stay dry in bad weather, you will always be comfortable.
Sunscreen and a wide-brimmed hat or at least a ball cap are a must.

Housekeepers, consider buying your groceries at Red Lake’s supermarket. The selection is excellent and the prices are comparable to at home, especially if it means saving money by taking the more fuel-efficient vehicle on the trip up.

Please do not bring:
  1. Electrical appliances with heating elements (our generator cannot handle them). Nighttime breathing machines are fine.
  2. Cast iron pots and pans. The cabins already have them. If you need a special pot ask at the lodge to borrow one.
  3. Barbecues and charcoal. They’re supplied. Propane fish cookers. They’re supplied.
  4. Duffel bags, plastic totes and coolers big enough to hide a body. Pick a size that is easier to carry and to pack in the camp boat
  5. Groceries in bags. When purchasing groceries in Red Lake, ask to have them packed in cardboard boxes. This is done all the time here.
